My name is Claudio Bravetti, and I have been a surveyor in Foligno since 2020. Today, I work as a freelancer, but my career path has been long and varied. If I had to describe it in chapters, there would be three:
My journey began at the ITT Leonardo da Vinci in Foligno (formerly Geometri), where I first learned about this profession. In those years, there was a specific course to become a surveyor, which I followed diligently, completing it in 2015 with excellent results.
Like many young people, however, this was not my only passion. In fact, during those years, I also trained as a fencer. Training and competitions took me to Siena, where I decided to enroll and attend a degree course in linguistic mediation at the University for Foreigners.
For many years, I lived in this wonderful city, dividing my time between training and university life. However, my journey as a surveyor is not over: the two paths will cross at the end of my university studies.
In 2020, something happened that overturned the plans I had made for my life up to that point. I was about to leave for an Erasmus program in Japan when the universities canceled everything due to Covid.
I found myself with my plans for the coming year completely canceled, due to circumstances beyond my control. As we know, 2020 was a year of extreme uncertainty for everyone: so, fearing I would be stuck in Siena for who knows how long, I decided to return temporarily to Foligno, my hometown.
Once back home, I discover that a well-known surveyor in the area, Michele Tardioli, is looking for an apprentice for his technical firm. Without thinking twice, I introduced myself and asked if I could work there. From the very first few months, I remembered how much I loved that discipline. So, that temporary break turned into an opportunity that would lead me straight to where I am today.
The years passed and finally the pandemic ended. However, I had already made the most important decision for my professional career: I chose to give up Erasmus, continue on the path to officially becoming a surveyor, and stay permanently in Foligno.
For the next four years, starting in 2020, I continued my apprenticeship at the technical firm, passing the exam to qualify as a surveyor. In 2022, I also obtained the qualification of certified surveyor for safety on construction sites (C.S.P./C.S.E.).
During my apprenticeship, I decided to complete my degree with an experimental thesis. This study gave me the opportunity to explore and study an issue that I had begun to see in a different light during my field experience: the safety of foreign workers on construction sites.
Today, I am officially a surveyor and work as a freelancer in my beloved hometown: Foligno.
